Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band

Europes enthusiastic response to zydeco sparked something inside Chubby. He wanted to share the culture and music of Louisiana everywhere he could. Chubby explains the inspiration behind forming his own group, Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band. I joined Terrance Simiens band in 1987 1988. I formed my own band in 1989 because I loved it so much. I was floored when we went to Europe and the people were telling me we love zydeco music, we love Louisiana music and we want more of it. At the time my daddy and grandfather were teaching me how to play the songs on the accordion. When daddy was gone for those seven days we needed an accordion player, which was me. I said well when daddys not here I will fill in but whos going to sing? I said not me, I am not a singer not a drummer. We had the bass player sing and the guitar player of that band sing the songs the lead parts so we kept the band going even though daddy was going offshore. So in 1989 I formed Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.
