The Acadian Superette will host Daniel Coolik and K.C. Jones this Thursday for their weekly music series. The duo recently released an eclectic covers on an EP entitled "Spirited Melancholy," while Jones also released her debut single "Heat Rises." The song is taken from her much-anticipated album of originals entitled The Queen of the In Between.
Thursday also finds the Allman Betts Band playing to a sold-out crowd at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Rock sounds from Gold Dust Empire, Ismonic, and Almost Digital will take over the Blue Moon on Friday night. Legendary Cajun accordionist Paul Daigle and his band Cajun Gold will be at the Hideaway Saturday. Simultaneously, zydeco man Horace Trahan will be a couple of blocks away at the Rock'n'Bowl.
I'll be featuring K.C. Jones in this edition of Lafayette Weekly with a mix of music from her diverse discography. You'll hear a couple of tracks from her and Coolik's Spirited Melancholy, her new single "Heat Rises," and French music from T'Monde and Feufollet. Also in the mix are tunes from Horace Trahan, Paul Daigle and Cajun Gold, and the Allman Betts Band (with a classic from their dads in the Allman Brothers). All of that plus two new tracks from Michelle Colon's Malentina. Her Spanish language three-song EP "Para Ti," was released last week.
