2020 has been full of unpleasant surprises, and the year isn't over just yet. Acadiana is preparing for a first-time scenario: back-to-back tropical storms. The duo will hit the Louisiana coast early this week with Hurricane Marco winning the race Monday evening.

There will be music in the wake of Laura and Marco. Legendary Lafayette session musicians Beau Thomas and Tommy Shreve will perform together Thursday evening at the Hideaway, while Horace Trahan will make a rare stripped-down appearance the following night. You can also get some tacos and tunes on Friday evening with Sarah Russo at Pedro's and Connie G and Rob Saxy at El Paso Mexican Grill. Russo will play with her hybrid backing band Freetown Mouth which features members of Sailor Mouth and the Freetown Sound.

In this edition of Lafayette Weekly, I'll be spotlighting music by zydeco accordion master Horace Trahan. You'll hear tracks from his debut, the traditional Ossun Blues, and the regional radio hit, "The Same Knife Cut The Sheep, Cut The Goat" from his 2010 comeback album Keep Walking. Music by local funk rockers DG and the Freetown Sound and Sailor Mouth are also included along with a few from modern Cajun crusader, Jourdan Thibodeaux.
