There's quite a bit of music to catch this week in Lafayette.

The Blue Monday Mission returns to their new location, The Grouse Room, on Monday night. The live music venue will be hosting concerts in their courtyard while COVID-19 regulations are in place. Lafayette based pop group, The Good Dudes will perform at the same spot Saturday night. Hub City staple Grand Nathaniel (a.k.a. J. Burton) will play a rare solo show outside at The Hideaway on Thursday.

At home, you can catch André Courville do his Christmas thing online Friday night. That same evening, classic Cajun rockers Atchafalaya will take the stage at the Grouse Room.

The week wraps up with the new project led by zydeco and blues multi-instrumentalist Major Handy, the soulful Sharon Thomas, and the Godfather of Swamp Pop, Warren Storm. The R&B ensemble is set to perform Sunday evening at the Hideaway.

I'll be featuring several tracks from both Storm and Handy for this edition of Lafayette Weekly. You'll hear the Godfather's take on Charles Brown's classic, "Please Come Home For Christmas," "I Don't Wanna Know" with the Lil Band O Gold, and a newly unearthed live track from 1957. Major Handy's reggae-inspired version of "Colinda," Atchafalaya's "Cajun Baby," and a few brand new songs from Grand Nathaniel are all in the mix. I also threw in a couple of lagniappe Louisiana Christmas recordings alongside the latest from the Good Dudes.
