Unlike most years, the amount of music to catch this week in Lafayette is limited. That being said, you'll still have the opportunity to hear some holiday favorites and locally rooted sounds during this Christmas holiday.

Lafayette based crooner Marco Savvy will perform a set of spirited standards a la Sinatra Tuesday evening at Acadian Village. Gerard Delafose will bring his down-home zydeco sound to the Hideaway Friday night, while Cajun fiddler Jourdan Thibodaux is set to perform at the same venue Saturday. You can also check out two of the Hub City's favorite variety bands, Three Thirty Seven and the Basin Street Band, on Saturday.

I assembled a Louisiana Christmas mixtape for this edition of Lafayette Weekly. Along with tracks by some of the artists mentioned above, you'll hear a few from Steve Riley's Party at the Holiday, Donny Broussard's Cajun country "Grandma's Christmas," and Aaron Neville's classic "Louisiana Christmas Day." I also included Joel Sonnier's "Silent Night! Holy Night!," "Party This Christmas," by old school zydeco hitmaker Rockin' Sydney, and a spirited collaboration between guitar great Sonny Landreth and New Orleans girl group, the Dixie Cups.
