Music returns to the Grouse Room this Friday with local top 40 cover band, Shotgun Lillie. The performance will take place outside on the courtyard stage at the new downtown venue.

The Hideaway will host two of the most acclaimed accordionist to emerge in the 1990s this weekend. Dirk Powell, revered folk musician and long-time member of Balfa Toujours, will play a set with singer/songwriter Rainy Eyes Friday evening. Cajun revivalist turned zydeco innovator Horace Trahan will bring his beloved Ossun Express sound to the restaurant and bar Saturday evening.

I’m continuing with my Mardi Gras flavored playlists for this edition of Lafayette Weekly. Good timin’ tunes by Horace Trahan like “People Here Know How to Party,” “Get On Board,” and “On the One,” kick off this week’s mixtape. You’ll also hear a couple of tracks from Cajun dance band Balfa Toujours, recent recordings featuring Dirk Powell and Rainy Eyes, plus Lil Bob’s South Louisiana party anthem, “I Got Loaded.”
