Though COVID cases are on the rise again, Lafayette is experiencing its first taste of live music freedom in recent weeks. Bars were given the green light when Governor Edwards approved that our state would enter Phase II of reopening the economy. One of Lafayette’s newest watering holes will be celebrating this newfound independence this weekend with some live music.

The Hideaway on Lee is a new venture by Wilson Savoy of Pine Leaf Boys fame and much sought after local sound engineer Dave Livingston. The venue and restaurant had its soft opening recently and are offering more of a safe space for patrons. Masks must be worn while on the premises.

Country chanteuse Sabra Guzman and Cajun trio T’Monde are set to perform this weekend on the outdoor stage.

For this week’s playlist, I’ll be featuring tracks by Sabra and the Get Rights, The Pine Leaf Boys, and T’ Monde. I’ll also be including music by local soul singer Lance Dubroc. He is celebrating the release of his new album, Sunny Days, this Friday night. His album launch party will take place at another new downtown venue, the Grouse Room. All of that plus some classic tunes to celebrate the 4th.
