Local pop singer and keyboardist Hunter DeBlanc will continue his Janky Piano Night this Wednesday at the Grouse Room. DeBlanc will be singing top 40 hits at the piano and acting as a game show host for this interactive performance featuring song requests and prizes.
The Hideaway will celebrate their first anniversary this Thursday with an extensive list of the new venue’s regular musicians. Multi-instrumentalist Dirk Powell, Cajun supergroup Pine Leaf Boys, and folk-rockers the Rayo Brothers are all set to appear.
The Bucks, a honky-tonk tribute group led by Gary Newman, will bring their brand of Bakersfield-style country music to the Feed n’ Seed Saturday evening. That same night the Freetown Boom Boom Room will host a trio of heavy groups with CAPRA, Golgothan, and Writhings.
If you’re looking for Zydeco sounds, Cedric Watson and his band will be at the Blue Moon Friday night, while Geno Delafose will keep the dancers busy on Sunday at Rock n’ Bowl.
This week’s playlist comprises an eclectic mix of styles from right here in South Louisiana. You’ll hear modern pop from Hunter DeBlanc, rocking two-steps from Geno Delafose, and the latest from Cajun fiddler and musical explorer Michael Doucet. Also in the mix is the latest single from K.C. Jones, old-time acoustic music from Dirk Powell, and brand new recordings from CAPRA, who recently signed with the famed Metal Blade Records.
