The live music calendar is looking like it's starting to get back to normal now that we're entering Phase II of reopening the economy. Although "live music venues" aren't listed as businesses allowed to open, but bars and breweries with LDH food permits have gotten the go-ahead to serve the public.

An old school accordion and fiddle house dance featuring Jonno Frishberg and Ryan Brunet is scheduled for Friday at Artmosphere Bistro. Popular local funk and soul rockers Sailor Mouth are back and will perform at Legends on Johnston St. Saturday night. An acoustic night of covers provided by Rory Suire is scheduled this weekend at My Place Bar & Grill as well as a Sunday afternoon dance with Terry and the Zydeco Bad Boys.

KBON 101.1FM's Erica Fox is still providing an intimate look into some of our area's artists with her Tunesday Takeover series. Fox, who is a singer/songwriter herself, spends a few hours each week with a local musician on-air and online. The two discuss all things music while the guest performs in an acoustic setting. This week's featured performer is legendary blues and zydeco accordionist, singer, and guitarist Major Handy.

For this week's playlist, I put together a mix highlighting Major Handy, Sailor Mouth, and some iconic R&B from Acadiana. You'll hear classic tracks from Lil' Bob and the Lollipops, Marc Broussard, and Cookie and the Cupcakes. A few Cajun tunes from Jonno Frishberg's past projects are in there too, including "Le Holiday" from Charivari and some fais do do rock from Mamou.
