Like so many festivals and concert series this year, Blackpot Festival will broadcast a virtual program online. The annual cook-off and music gathering will feature many of their regular artists such as zydeco legend Preston Frank, Tejano ambassadors Los Texmaniacs, and host band The Revelers. Tune-in to the 2-hour virtual event Saturday night to catch pre-recorded and live performances along with cooking demonstrations.
Other local concerts to catch this week include Country/Cajun/Swamp Pop singer Yvette Landry at Café Vermilionville on Wednesday evening, rocker Julian Primeaux, and soul songster Ray Boudreaux. Longtime Lafayette-based R&B variety band Krossfyre will play Rock'n'Bowl while Vermilionville will host influential nouveau zydeco accordionist Lil' Pookie for their Sunday afternoon fais do do series.
This week's playlist highlights the artists booked for this year's virtual Blackpot Festival. You'll hear the latest from Texas roots musician Johnny Nicholas, Cajun trio T'Monde, and collaboration between Creole cellist Leyla McCalla and Lost Bayou Rambler Louis Michot. Boma Bango, Jesse Lege, Preston Frank, and the Revelers are mixed in with a couple of tracks by Los Texmaniacs to fill out the eclectic festival lineup. A couple of barroom shuffles from Yvette Landry are queued up with recordings from Ray Boudreaux, Lil' Pookie, and Julian Primeaux.
