During the fall and spring Lafayette becomes a music mecca with free concert series. The good times roll on Thursday with Rhythms on the River, a free evening concert series held in River Ranch’s Town Square. Friday is the family friendly Bach Lunch, a free popular lunchtime music series that takes place in Downtown Lafayette, that couples local food offerings with music for all ages. La Maison Begnaud House Jam

Every Friday the Begnaud House in Scott is jamming with a free Cajun jam session from 6 - 10 p.m. Musicians of all ages are welcome to play either on the comfy porch or inside the historic home for the Friday night house jam. Don’t play an instrument? No problem. They’re always plenty of locals looking to dance or visit while the music is playing. The Victory Festival was created as a fundraiser for the Victory Garden, a community garden grown and maintained by the public located in the LaPlace neighborhood. Since it’s very first festival a few years ago the first phase of the garden-building, planting and harvesting-has been complete and monies raised from this year’s festival will go towards expanding the garden as well as continued maintenance. The festival is free for all ages and includes an art show and silent auction, food trucks, kids' activities, beer, and live music by New Natives Brass Band, Bluerunners, and Sweet Cecilia. The Celtic Bayou Festival focuses on preserving and celebrating all aspects of Irish, Irish American and other Celtic cultures while instilling an appreciation of this heritage in current and future generations. A family friendly event, this annual festival is held on St. Patrick's Day weekend at Warehouse 535. With performances by traditional Celtic bands from both close to home and around the world and unique events such as Irish Lenten Crawfish Boil, Guinness Cook-Off Competition, Bailey's Bake-Off Competition Green Mile Pub Crawl, and a Genealogy tent for Acadiana people to trace their Celtic roots, Celtic Bayou Festival is a crowd pleaser for both young and old, no matter which culture you hail from.
