Though the Po-Boy is almost always linked to its birthplace of New Orleans, Lafayette and the surrounding area might be the only other place that competes with the Big Easy’s favorite sandwich. The Acadiana Poboy Festival celebrates our local delicatessens at Parc Sans Souci with live music, regional artists, and activities for the kiddos.

Some new faces to our music scene will be performing at this year’s festival along with some of our household names. Headlining the fest will be Grammy winner Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band with Voice finalist Lane Mack and The Balladeers. DG and the Freetown Sound will showcase their blue eye soul next to KLFY’s own Gerald Greuning with his new Gentilly Zydeco band. Soul Express Brass Band will bring in some Cresent City street sounds while Homegrown Reggae will provide a steady groove while you let your stomach settle from all the fried French bread goodness. Lafayette chanteuse Julie Williams will showcase her talent on the "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the opening ceremonies.

I compiled a list of tunes from the musicians playing this year’s Poboy Festival for this week’s mixtape. You’ll hear Lane Mack’s newest single “Solid Ground” and some slamming zydeco from Chubby and company. Tracks from other artists playing shows this week are also included from Rex Moroux, Feufollet and Mia Borders.
