Sickbay is the brainchild of Lafayette musician/promoter, Ryan Dejean. His indie-promotion company has helped make Lafayette a worthy tour stop for up and coming indie musicians in recent years. Starting with backyard parties, Sickbay has made its way into local clubs and the odd, offbeat location for what has become some of Lafayette's most memorable music events in the past few years. On Saturday, September 1, Sickbay and Artmosphere welcome Texas-based singer/songwriter Claire Morales. With her rock band, Morales will share the stage with local indie-folk quartet, Shrugs, and the self-described "expericana" group, Spyglass.

Starting out in coffee shops, and then with her band, Morales has been making a name for herself in the North Texas music scene this past decade. Her debut album, Amaranthine, was released in 2015 and helped the singer move to larger stages in her native state with performances at festivals like the Wildwood Music Fest and SXSW. All That Waiting, which was released earlier this summer, is a step up from her first album in both production and songwriting. Hauntingly dark, yet dreamy, her sound is a perfect match for the pair of groups she will perform with.

In this week's playlist, I'll be featuring selected tracks from All That Waiting, as well as Morales' debut album. I also added songs from the latest Spyglass album and other local indie groups, like Brass Bed, Grand Nathaniel and the Ghosts, and Julie Odell.
