After a successful run of weekly shows, Freetown Unplugged is coming to an end this Tuesday. For their finale, organizer Emily Istre put together a Cajun Christmas party with a concert featuring an all-star lineup of local musicians and a mini art market. Doors open at 8 p.m. and music will start at around 9 p.m.
Bassist Sabra Guzman, fiddler Cameron Fontenot, and drummer Sean Bruce will make up the house band and will be led by singer/fiddler Kelli Jones. Steve Riley of the Mamou Playboys, Pine Leaf Boy Wilson Savoy, and guitar slinger Lane Mack are scheduled as guest performers. One can expect to hear a mix of classic Cajun standards, swamp pop favorites and at least a handful of Christmas tunes.
For this week's playlist, I made a mix of music by the performers who will be performing at this event. You'll hear several tracks from Kelli Jones and her band Feufollet, Lane Mack's latest single and some recent Christmas music from Steve Riley.
