Halloween has always been a big day for my band, local psychedelic rockers The Amazing Nuns. The group’s first show was opening for the late Lil Buck Sinegal on this holiday back in 2002 and the sextet’s last two albums were released on October 31. Many shows have been performed on Samhain in Lafayette through the Nuns’ 17 years and we’re doing it again this week. Scenic World will join us Thursday night for at Artmosphere along with DJ Andre Broussard spinning rock n roll records throughout the night.

Across the street, at the Blue Moon Saloon Lafayette indie electronica Orange Lazarus and garage punks O.T.C. will host the honky tonk’s costume contest and celebration. The Pearl will also have regional rock groups performing Halloween night with two of Lafayette’s favorite 90s inspired bands Camps and Dr. C and the Gris Gris along with Sailor Mouth’s funky blue-eyed soul and Sauvage.

I’ve included music by all of the bands I featured for Halloween plus some classic spooky tracks from Sam Sham and Roky Erickson in this week’s playlist. You’ll hear several tracks from the Nuns, “Monsters” by Dr. C and the Gris Gris and “Werewolf Two-Step” from the Pine Leaf Boys. Also in the mix are a few from Scenic World’s debut and “Science Fiction Double Feature”, thé them from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
