Downtown Alive! is celebrating it's 35th anniversary this season with a stellar lineup of some of our area's most beloved artists. Lane Mack and his new band, the Balladeers, along with Sweet Cecilia kicked off the series last week with their mix of classic country, swamp pop, and blues rock. Other shows set for this fall include Jourdan Thibodeaux and his band, Samantha Fish, and an anniversary celebration featuring Wayne Toups, T.K. Hulin and more. The Zydeco Boss, Keith Frank, and his band will perform this Friday, September 21 at Parc International.

Having followed his father's footsteps in the trail ride circuit, Frank has moved to the top of the ranks in the South Louisiana Creole music world. His mix of down-home country accordion tunes, modern R&B laced two-steps, and swing-out slow jams have made him the current most recognizable name in Zydeco. He and the Soileau Zydeco Band recently released The Return of the King, a new album of 20 original songs. You can hear many of these tunes in their current live set.

For this week's playlist, I added some of my favorite tracks from Frank's new album, alongside some tracks by the artists that will be performing for Downtown Alive this fall. Included is the smooth swing-out of "She's Gifted," the confrontational "Truck Stop Coffee," and the title track, "Return of the King." Click here  to see the full lineup for Downtown Alive.
