Everyone knows Lafayette is one the most culturally rich music towns with more talent in 10 mile radius than most anywhere. It's no surprise the GRAMMY category for Best Regional Roots Album in 2017 is dominated once again by Acadiana musicians including:
- Joel Savoy and Josh Caffery for “I Wanna Sing Right: Rediscovering Lomax in the Evangeline Country,” a four-CD set featuring more than 30 local artists performing recordings from the historic Alan and John Lomax collection
- Barry Ancelet and Sam Broussard for “Broken Promised Land,” renditions of French music and poetry
- Roddie Romero and the Hub City All Stars for their “Gulfstream” album
Continuing the Acadiana nomination streak in the Best Contemporary Christian Performance/Song is Lauren Daigle with her song "Trust In You." This marks the second nomination for the Lafayette native has she was nominated for her 2015 debut album, "How Can It Be," which was also the No. 1 Christian Artist on Billboard’s 2016 year-end chart.
To help get you ready for the GRAMMY's taking place this Sunday, February 12 we've put together a playlist of our Acadiana nominees you can listen to below.
