Dates: March 23, 2018 - April 27, 2018
Recurring: Recurring weekly on Friday
This spring begins the 30th season of the bach Lunch series of the Lafayette Science Museum!!!!
Bach Lunch began as a small event to provide exposure to local musicians and restaurants in an atmosphere accessible to all ages, a free event as a community outreach and a small fundraiser for the then Lafayette Natural History Museum (now the Lafayette Science Museum). Initially one restaurant participated providing approximately 50 lunches for an audience of about 75-100. Now some 3 or more restaurants participate providing some 300 and 400 lunches per week with more during festival Fridays in the spring and the fall. Attendance now reaches between 450 and 900 people per week. Yet the basic mission remains the same. It remains a win- win situation for all.
None of this could happen without the strong support and generosity of the many talented musicians and restaurant owners and their staffs, volunteers, sponsors , LCG and museum staff and foundation support.
Our bands and the musicians are extremely talented and well respected this special 30th season each week features some of the bands or people who fall into the special category of Grammy nominees or winners!
Our restaurants, many who have been with us for years are well known for delicious meals and generous owners and we are proud to provide their lunches.
In addition to add to the excitement of the 30th season well-known artist Kelly Guidry has generously agreed to create a special piece of art work reflecting the event and each week raffle tickets will be available for purchase for $5 each with the drawing to be held at the end of the final concert.
The free lunch hour concert features different musicians performing from noon to 1 pm. Lunches are available for purchase from local restaurants on a first-come first-served basis beginning at 11:15 am. The concerts are held in downtown Lafayette at Parc Sans Souci, except during the spring of the concert during Festival International at Parc International a block down from Parc Sans Souci. Proceeds go to the support of the Lafayette Science Museum. As always expect great music, great food and a great family friendly atmosphere !
