Dates: Nov 4 - 5 2022
The Festival of Words is held in Grand Coteau, Louisiana on the first weekend in November. Celebrate the written word with open mics throughout the year that culminate in this two-day festival. Sharpen your craft with creative writing workshops hosted by published authors. There will also be a community stage for open mic and “Drive-by Poetry”. At this event, youth give dramatic presentations of festival authors’ writings.
This year’s authors include Clemonce Heard, John McNally, and Ashley M. Jones. Heard is the winner of the 2020 Anhinga-Robert Dana Poetry Prize selected by Major Jackson. McNally is the author or editor of nineteen books, including the forthcoming thriller The Kingdom of Lost Souls. Jones is Poet Laureate of the state of Alabama (2022-2026). She received an MFA in Poetry from Florida International University (FIU), where she was a John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Fellow.
