Dates: January 19, 2020
Time: 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Speaker Rachel Thomas, tour guide of the W.H. Tupper General Merchandise Museum in Jennings, will talk about living in rural Louisiana during the early 1900s when a family had to rely on all their needs, except what they grew, from the general mercantile store. The Tupper family operated their store in Hathaway until 1949, when it closed with all its contents still on the shelves and counters. A PowerPoint presentation will show actual merchandise from the museum. A Tupper grandson helped Jennings to convert the building and its contents into a General Merchandise Museum.
Doors open at 1:30 - Limited Seating. Refreshments will be served.
