Holi Festival

8th Annual Lafayette Holi Festival
March 31 from 11 am - 4 pm

Lafayette Holi Festival, started in 2011, brings Holi to Acadiana, the heart of the Cajun country. Holi (होली), is a religious festival celebrated by Hindus in early Spring. This "Festival of Colors" shares many similarities with Easter...but instead of dying eggs, participants are the ones getting a dash of color. This vibrant, colorful celebration is one you won't want to miss.

Holi Festival organizers suggest a few important things before attending this family-friendly event...
Holi Festival
  • Wear white, as it provides the best canvas for this "colorful" celebration
  • Wear clothes you don't mind parting with. They may get stained.
  • It is suggested that children wear swimwear as they will likely be interacting with water.
  • Bring towels and something you can quickly change into.
  • Just in case, have your allergy medication on hand.
  • Bring sanitary hand and/or face wipes to clean up after the event.
  • Eye protection is highly recommended -- like sunglasses. Especially if you wear contacts.
  • Bring spare contacts and eye drops.
  • Hair protection like bandanas, shower caps. hats, etc.
  • Cover your car seats to protect them after the event.
  • Picnic chairs are welcome.
  • Dust off all the dry color from hair and body before getting in shower. Some colors stain when wet.
  • If you are using a camera, protect its lens from colors.
