As you travel through the bayous and byways of Cajun and Creole Louisiana, you will experience the true Joie de Vivre our culture has to offer. 

Martin Accordions

Hear the story of how Junior Martin and his family began making custom crafted diatonic accordions used by professionals and amateurs musicians around the world. Learn about the many steps in creating the accordion from the artist himself and sit back in delight as he gives you a demonstration of how this joyous instrument is played.

Zydeco A-Z

Chubby Carrier will serve up a spicy cup of soul with a dash of history and a hint of curiosity through his Zydeco A-Z program at Acadian Village. Step back in time to experience the evolution of zydeco music from its African and French beginnings through audio, visual, and kinesthetic learning complete with live performances and listener participation. Available for groups Monday – Thursday during the day. 

Jam Sessions

Get a true taste of local music by visiting one of the many jam sessions in Lafayette, LA. Local and visiting musicians of all ages gather and play instruments ranging from accordion, fiddle, guitar and ti-fer or triangle. Everyone is invited to watch and if there’s enough room, to dance. If you listen closely you can hear musicians catching up in their native French between songs.
