This is Us: Sights & Sounds of Acadiana

On March 7, 2020, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra (ASO) will perform a breathtaking concert in collaboration with Lafayette Travel and multimedia artist Nicholas Bardonnay.

The concert will feature choreographed images provided YOU—the talented people of Acadiana—projected across a huge screen above the orchestra.

With your help, the imagery will feature photos of Acadiana's people, our vibrant culture, lifestyle, towns and beautiful natural landscapes to create a truly unique local story. The imagery will be paired with a locally inspired musical work by Virgil Thomson called “Acadian Songs and Dances.”

What does Acadiana mean to you?

Words are not enough to describe all there is to love about Acadiana, which means we need your pictures to show what we have to offer. We want to see community celebrations and family events like festivals and crawfish boils, the breathtaking and diverse scenery and histories of Acadiana and the people you love who hold stories of resilience and beauty. Your pictures are what we need to help orchestrate the story that is Acadiana. Show us in images what you're passionate about.

Show us what Acadiana is to you by submitting your favorite photos!

Submit as many photos as you would like – both newly created as well as ones you have already shot or inherited. You don't have to be a professional either; everyone is encouraged to participate. Your submitted photos could be anything from a specific location like a landmark, restaurant, gallery, street, natural area or even something like your favorite statue or mural, local sports team, cajun dish, local musical performers, cultural festivals and local events. It could even be as simple as a picture of you with your friends, archival photos of Acadiana’s history, family portraits, or pictures from your past. The sky is the limit!

What’s in it for you?

Dozens of selected photographers will have their photos be part of the live multimedia performance on display during the ASO's concert on March 7, 2020. In addition, all finalists will receive tickets to the performance and artistic credit in the concert program.
