Music has been the backbone of Acadiana since the area's humble beginnings, with a melting pot of Cajuns, Creoles, European and Native American cultures merging to create a unique sound. The heart of Louisiana's Cajun & Creole Country is primarily known for its Cajun and Zydeco music. Still, it's not uncommon to hear genres spanning folk music, country, rock, rhythm and blues, and swam pop from area dancehalls. While Acadiana is much smaller than other music cities, the area is fertile ground for a significant number of GRAMMY-nominated artists as well as a multitude of concert series and festivals.
