Announced at the Sports Event and Tourism Association Symposium
Lafayette Travel is excited to announce it was a finalist for the Sports Event and Tourism Association Sports Event or Program Impact of the Year for hosting the 2023 USA Boxing Olympic Trials, which took place in December 2023 at the CAJUNDOME. Over 800 boxers from around the country participated in this five-day event, with 160 participating in the Olympic trials.
Each year, the Sports Event and Tourism Association honors organizations and individuals in the sports events and tourism industry to celebrate their accomplishments and achievements. At the April symposium, which took place in Portland, OR, the Event or Program Impact of the Year was awarded to a sports event or local initiative whose impact can be defined by how their event impacted their communities or for their residents/participants beyond just the financials. This was a very competitive contest, and Lafayette Travel was the only organization from Louisiana selected as a finalist.
