Honoring America’s 250th anniversary while showcasing Louisiana’s historic role in shaping our nation

As the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States, Lafayette Travel, in partnership with the Galvez Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Acadian Museum of Erath, will host a free screening of Traveling With Denella Ri’chard: America 250 on Wednesday, June 3, at the Moncus Theater inside Acadiana Center for the Arts. The evening will include a panel discussion exploring the region’s unique contributions to America’s history and its connection to the nation’s 250th anniversary commemoration.

The event will feature the Lafayette segment from the nationally broadcast television series Traveling With Denella Ri’chard, highlighting the region’s heritage, Revolutionary War-era connections, and the diverse cultural influences that helped shape both Louisiana and the United States.

Hosted as part of the growing national conversation celebrating America 250, the evening will examine how the region’s story connects to the broader American experience through expulsion, resilience, military history, food, music, and culture.

Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. with networking opportunities, a cash bar, and informational booths from participating organizations. Welcome remarks will begin at 5:30 p.m. from Lafayette Travel President & CEO Ben Berthelot, Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet, and Denella Ri'chard.

The screening will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by a live panel discussion and audience Q&A examining the area’s historical significance and enduring cultural contributions.
