Lafayette Travel & LEDA Partner to Continue NIL Partnership with UL Lafayette Athletes

For the second year, Lafayette Travel has partnered with student-athletes from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette through a name, image, and likeness (NIL) agreement to encourage the community to Share in the Culture. Athletes were selected from various sports, including softball, volleyball, track and field, baseball, and football, to showcase Lafayette Parish as an ideal destination to live, visit, work, and attend college.

“In 2021, Lafayette Travel was one of the first in the nation to sign a name, images, and likenesses (NIL) deal with UL Lafayette quarterback Levi Lewis for its annual EatLafayette campaign,” says Ben Berthelot, President & CEO of Lafayette Travel. “We hope to continue that success by partnering with LEDA to help create Athletic Ambassadors to promote the area through Ultra.”

New this year is the partnership with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) to expand the number of athletes featured. The first set of videos, which can be viewed here includes Chandler Fields (football), Kelsey Bennett (volleyball), Kendre Gant (football), Lance Legendre (football), Caemon Solomon Scott (track and field), Chapin Stewart (track and field), Carson Roccaforte (baseball). Other athletes will be filmed later in the year.

“LEDA’s partnership with Lafayette Travel and UL Lafayette’s athletes is an excellent opportunity to promote why Lafayette is an exciting community for students and young professionals,” says Mandi Mitchell, LEDA President, and CEO. “In addition to receiving a world-class education from UL Lafayette, our student ambassadors touch on the core elements that make Lafayette home for so many transplants— food, culture, recreation, and a true sense of community. We look forward to sharing their messages with prospective businesses and talent.”
